This class is for the very beginner or for those who need a refresher course because you took a similar class and then never shot again. In fact, it is likely that your firearm is very lonely and sad. I can help! This is not a fast paced class for the hot rod shooter. This class is for the everyday citizen who wishes to get a thorough understanding of the AR15. It’s slow paced and thorough.
This class is a prerequisite for the outdoor Essential Rifle Concepts Class.
Have you thought about adding the “AR15” style rifle to your knowledge base? It’s a great, easy to learn, modern day sporting rifle! There are plenty of females out there who prefer this firearm over anything else. Contrary to popular belief, there is MINIMAL RECOIL & they are very fun to shoot! Did you know that AR does NOT stand for automatic or assault rifle?
This class is open to males and females ages 18 and up! It is for the person who has possibly never touched this style of firearm before but is interested in adding or maybe has added it to their collection.
You do not need your own rifle yet. I will bring several to try so you can make an EDUCATED purchase.
Class Goals:
Upon completion of this class, our goal is for you to have the skills to understand the care of your rifle, confidently manipulate it (load & make ready / unload & show clear), understand when it’s appropriate to have the safety on – safety off, and successfully shoot the AR15 (also referred to as carbine). We also hope to help our students remove the fear the media places on this rifle and replace it with CONFIDENCE & KNOWLEDGE. This class is for everyday citizens. Please show up in comfortable attire – no “tactical Timmy’s” please (see how to dress below) and leave any ego’s safely locked in your basement. We want to learn and have fun in a positive environment.
Other topics covered will be:
- A brief history & familiarization of the AR15 carbine AKA The modern-day sporting rifle.
- Modifications – why might I do this to my rifle?
- Touching on how to clear malfunctions as time allows.
- Understanding the different sights on carbines & when they are needed.
- How to keep it running.
Bring your rifle if you have one! You do NOT have to own a rifle. There will be several well-appointed loaners for you to demo so you can decide what you like. They are easily modified for comfort and use. If you do bring yours, it needs to have at least one type of site on it, iron, red dot, or scope (email me with questions [email protected]).
Please bring:
- Snacks.
- Lunch.
- and hydration.
We will NOT break for lunch. We will be on the range from 9-4pm with small breaks for snacks and a longer break for lunch. We will not break long enough to leave for food.
HOW TO DRESS FOR RANGE DAY: This is an INDOOR RANGE.
- Long pants are a good idea. Shorts are allowed.
- Closed-toe shoes (NON-NEGOTIABLE) NO flip flops or sandals please.
- High collared shirt – a regular t-shirt is perfectly good; tank top or v neck shirts are not. Brass going down your shirt is very hot!
