Time: 10am – 5:30pm

Duration: 7.5 hours with breaks & lunch

Location: ETTS 620 Greathouse Rd Waxahachie, TX 75167

Lunch: 30 minutes. Bring enough food and hydration to sustain yourself throughout the 6.5-hour day. There is no food close by.

The Definition of Success / Class Goal:

Our goal for you is to complete the class with a solid understanding of the proper set up and correct use of an AR15 style sporting rifle for personal, defensive, and/or competition purposes. We want you to be confident in your ability to purchase a rifle and proper ammunition for it as well as be confident in your ability to safely load it, unload it, and shoot it with excellent marksmanship skills.

Must I own a rifle? NO. We will have several well-appointed rifles to loan. Try before you buy.

Equipment needed:

• AR15 Platform rifle with a sling. Don’t have one? It’s ok.
• Eye protection ear protection (muffs work but many find that “in the ear protection” works a little better for rifles).
• Spare magazines (will have for you if using a loaner)
• Camping chair for breaks.
• Bug spray and/or sunscreen.

The AR15 sporting rifle is one of the most widely popular firearms available to the average citizen. Its use & capabilities are often misunderstood.

Topics we will cover include:

• Firearms safety, including safety precautions specific to rifles.
• Modifications and Accessories. What is a quality accessory & what is a waste of money.
•  Ammunition for the job.
•  Zeroing your rifle.
• Nomenclature.
• Shooting technique – fundamentals of rifle marksmanship.
•  Loading/reloading techniques.
• As time permits, the beginnings of positional shooting.

 Upon arriving at the range, you’ll stop in the office (just right of the main gate entrance) to check in and pay the range fee. We will meet everyone at the big white barn, just through the gate. At class completion, we will have a fun timed drill (& bragging rights for class Top Gun) and a written test. Completing the class will allow you to move on to the next class in the coming Spring of 2024. Hopefully allowing you to ask Santa for a new rifle, scope or other fun supplies (that you had no idea you needed) for Christmas
